When someone shares a Capacitly subscription link with you, you'll get access to their shared events in your calendar. Any updates sync in real time. No app download required.
Not sure which guide to pick?
The guide you need depends on the app you open to look at your calendar, not the account (Google, iCloud, Outlook) behind it. For example:
- If you have an iPhone and use the calendar app that came with your phone, go ahead and choose "I use the built-in Calendar app" even if you have a Google or Outlook account connected to it.
- If you specifically downloaded the Google Calendar app or Outlook app and that's what you open to check your schedule, choose that option instead.

Do I need to download the Capacitly app?
Nope! The subscription link works right with your existing calendar app, so you don't need to install anything. That said, if you love how easy it is to see shared events, you should check out Capacitly for yourself. It's a great way to share your own calendars with family and friends!
What's the difference between a calendar app and a calendar account?
A calendar app is what you open on your phone to check your schedule (like Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook). A calendar account is the service your events are stored in (like your Google account, iCloud, or Microsoft 365). Lots of folks use one app with a different account connected. For example, you might use Apple Calendar on your iPhone with a Google account. For these guides, what matters is the app you use, not the account.
Will I see updates automatically?
You betcha! Calendar subscriptions sync automatically. Whenever an event is added, changed, or removed, your calendar updates on its own. Most calendar apps refresh every few hours, but you can always pull up your calendar and manually refresh if you want to see changes right away.
Can I edit the shared events?
Not on the subscription end. Subscription calendars are read only, so you can see the events but can't change them. Only the person who shared the calendar can make edits. If you want to share and manage your own calendars, give Capacitly a try!
How do I unsubscribe?
You can remove the subscribed calendar from your calendar app whenever you want. Each guide above includes unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the page.
